Finally, Google have given us a video that actually helps people choose a good SEO company and how to avoid hiring a bad one that uses blackhat techniques!
So on February 14th 2017, Google Webmasters released a video simply titled how to hire an SEO, where Maile Ohye explains to us in simple terms, how to hire an SEO and what to look out for.
The video covers the SEO hiring process and explains the way forward to choosing the correct SEO for your company with the following steps:
Conduct a two-way interview with your potential SEO and check that they seem genuinely interested in you and your business
Check their references
Ask for a technical and search audit
Sounds so simple doesn’t it? But it’s actually refreshing for us to see this video from Google highlighting the dos and dont’s when looking at hiring a useful SEO to work with your business and explaining to people that working with shady SEO’s can result in having your website penalised.
If you’re reading this and you’re looking at hiring, you may choose to contact us to help you with your business or you may not. However, whatever your choice may be, please for goodness sake remember one key thing even if you forget everything else. If an SEO company promises you page 1 rankings within a certain time frame, run for the hills!
So before you do anything else, go make a brew, then sit back and watch this video for the next eleven and a half minutes so you hear it from the horse’s mouth.
Oh and before we forget, before you go and boil the kettle, click here to have our Website SEO Checker Tool audit your website and by the time you get back you’ll have a full PDF report telling you the current positive and negative ranking signals and how to fix them. It’s as simple as that!
